Test your system before the exam

Candidates will need to test their system for compatibility with our exam platform prior to attempting their exam to ensure a seamless exam experience.

Proceed to system compatibility check

If you reach to the step to enter your email, your system check has been successful.

If the check fails, review the system requirements below or contact us at info@p3gqa.com.

System requirements for the assessment platform

The P3GP® exam runs on the Mercer | Mettl platform and is AI proctored: the AI monitors a live video feed from your webcam (built-in or USB).

1. Network speed

AI proctored exams need an upload speed of at least 512 kbps, and a stable connection of at least 1024 kbps is recommended. You can check your speed at bandwidthplace.com or speedtest.net.

2. Supported browsers

The latest three versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari or Microsoft Edge.

3. Browser settings

Pop-up blockers can stop the test window from opening. Allow pop-ups when your browser asks, or turn the blocker off for the test:

  • Mozilla Firefox (Windows): Settings, Privacy and Security, Permissions, then untick “Block pop-up windows”.
  • Google Chrome: go to chrome://settings, then Privacy and security, Site settings, Pop-ups and redirects, and allow sites to send pop-ups.
  • Microsoft Edge: go to edge://settings/content/popups and turn off “Block”.

Restart your browser afterwards.

4. Things to remember

  • Clear your browser cache and cookies before you start (Ctrl+Shift+Delete in Chrome and Firefox).
  • If the test still does not load, shut your computer down with the power button, then clear the cache again.
  • Turn off security patches, anti-virus definition updates and application updates during the test, as automatic updates can cause heavy downloads and restarts. On Windows, open Run, type services.msc and stop the “Automatic Updates” service.
  • If a message says that ports 1987 and 1988 are blocked, contact your network administrator.

5. Firewall settings

On an office or corporate network, firewall rules may block the exam. Ask your network administrator to allow all requests from all subdomains of mettl.com, mercermettl.com and mercermettl.eu.

If wildcards are not allowed, allow these hosts under each of the three domains: diag, fileupload, logs, media, mpaas-api, pr, proctoring-gateway, proctoring-socket, static, tests, turnserver-candidate and wiris (for example tests.mettl.com, tests.mercermettl.com and tests.mercermettl.eu).

For each domain, also unblock the turnserver on TCP port 3478, UDP port 3478 and UDP ports 49152 to 65535. Opening these ports improves speed and image quality.

For webcam proctored tests, uninstall any third-party or vendor webcam software before you start.

If you are sitting the exam on a computer provided by your organisation, or behind a firewall or other IT security limits, share the Mercer | Mettl system requirements with your IT department.

6. Email settings

Add admin.mettl@mercer.com to your contacts so your exam invitation does not land in spam:

  • Gmail: Google apps, Contacts, Create contact, enter the address, Save.
  • Yahoo Mail: Contacts, All, Add a new contact, enter the address, Save.
  • Outlook.com: People, New contact, enter the address, Create.
  • iCloud Mail: Contacts, New Contact, enter the address, Done.
  • Microsoft Outlook app: Home, New Items, Contact, enter the address, Save and Close.
